Note. The clip trial was adapted from Warneken and Tomasello (2006). All other tasks were adapted from Svetlova et al. (2010). During each task (except the clip trial), the target object was presented on a tray with two distractor objects within the child’s reach but out of E1’s reach. The hairclip tasks were changed to the crayons tasks in the comforting and sharing tasks at age 4 because of concerns that girls were likely to be more familiar with hairclips. Prior to the session, we asked parents to bring their child’s favorite blanket and their favorite toy from home. Hence, three objects belonged to the child (child blanket, child toy, child hairclip or child crayons). T1 = Timepoint 1. Copyright blinded for review
