Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) indicating assumed causal relationships being tested in this study. Orange arrows represent the potential correlates of boundary patrol participation we tested in this study. Blue arrows represent assumed causal relationships between these variables based upon prior knowledge of chimpanzee behavior. We used these relationships to identify potential confounding variables to control for in the model set we used for information-theoretic model selection.
