We used partial least squares structural equation models (PLS-SEM) to analyze links between putative drivers and disease burden, but a more traditional approach is panel analysis. This document presents the results of a panel analysis conducted in parallel with the PLS-SEM presented in the main text. The consistency in results between the two methods highlights the robustness of our findings.
