Maps of the Mediterranean basin presenting mean values for 2013 for A) Chlorophyll A concentration, B) sea surface temperature and C) Photosynthetically available radiation. Yellow and blue dots illustrate the position of the studied locations in the high and low nutrient regions respectively. Note the strong differences in Chlorophyll A concentrations and the similarities in the other environmental parameters between the two regions. These maps were obtained from the NASA's Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/cms/.
