Grain Dynamics during sinuous flow from The cutting of metals via plastic buckling

High-speed video showing role of grain-level dynamics in the formation of sinuous flow. A single grain (marked green) buckles at the surface between its boundaries, which serve as pinning points. As the grain moves towards the tool, the buckle grows in size and finally forms a fold between the pinning points.
