A Barbary macaque performing in a Tool Properties (Ripped cloth condition) trial. In the Tool Properties task (Ripped cloth condition) a functional and a non-functional tool were presented. A reward was placed on top of one piece of cloth (which could be pulled to reach the reward), whereas the other reward was placed directly next to the cloth piece. The subject was allowed to pull one of the two pieces.
